Ross Chastain Shoulders Blame for Collision with Brett Moffitt at NASCAR Xfinity Race in Kentucky

During the NASCAR Xfinity race at Kentucky, there was a hairy moment between Ross Chastain and Brett Moffitt. Chastain’s No. 10 car was driving down the inside when it got loose and drifted upwards. Unluckily, Moffitt happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time because Chastain bumped into him.

The good news is that it broke Chastain’s trajectory towards the wall. Unfortunately, it also meant that Moffitt got bumped towards the wall on the outside.

In the end, both drivers avoided a big wreck, but Moffitt’s car ended up worse off billowing smoke due to some damage.

What happened in the NASCAR Xfinity race at Kentucky?

In the end, Ross Chastain somehow survived to finish in 3rd place, while Moffitt ended his Xfinity race down in 10th place. Speaking in the press conference after the race, Chastain acknowledged that he was at fault.

Chastain said, “I overdrove Turn 3, tried to slide in. He didn’t give in, by the time I realized it, it was too late. He saved me from hitting the wall and I hate that he hit the wall, so I got some making up to do there. I definitely need to go find him and apologize, I messed up, so I don’t know what to expect.”

According to Chastain, the track was ‘terrible’ and nobody could run on the bottom. To make matters worse, passing opportunities were very limited at the Kentucky Speedway.

Meanwhile, at the front, Austin Cindric became the 8th different winner in the 2020 Xfinity Series. At the Kentucky Speedway, Cindric fended off a stern challenge from Riley Herbst and grabbed his first win of the season.

Meanwhile, Chase Briscoe and Anthony Alfredo rounded out the top 5 behind Chastain. As a result of this, Briscoe’s championship advantage is 16 points from Noah Gragson.

Speaking of Gragson, he ended his race in 11th, behind the ailing Moffitt. This dents his championship hopes for the moment.

Luckily for Gragson, there are still plenty more races left to catch up to Briscoe and hopefully overtake him in the standings.
