Novak Djokovic Develops New Complication Ahead of French Open 2020 Semifinals

World Number one Novak Djokovic is through to the 38th Grand Slam semifinals in Paris after dropping a set against his quarterfinal opponent Pablo Carreno Busta at French Open 2020. He eliminated the Spaniard 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, and will take on the Greek lad Stefanos Tsitsipas in the last-four round of the French Major.

Before starting his quarterfinal encounter, Djokovic stepped on to the Court Philippe-Chatrier with tape on his neck. He didn’t really seem to be a hundred percent physically fit, also had something kind of discomfort with his arm. During the match, Novak took a medical time out after dropping the first set in order to treat his left bicep.

In his post-match presser, the Serbian legend reflected on the pains he was going through during his match against Carreno Busta. He mentioned the uneasiness was before his quarterfinal battle, but as the match sailed the pain was disappeared.

“I had some neck issues and some shoulders issues, I don’t want to reveal too much as I am still in the tournament. Pain faded away as the match went on and I warmed up,” Novak stated.

It’s definitely on a good sign for the 17-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic going into the semifinal of Roland Garros. Hopefully, he will be taking suitable treatment for the same and present his best form on Friday for his big match on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

Moving further, Novak Djokovic has a tough semifinal battle set up against the debutant in the Roland Garros semi-finals Stefanos Tsitispas. He defeated Andrey Rublev in straight sets and created history by becoming the first Greek man to reach semi-finals on the Parisian terre-battue.

“Tsitsipas is a big guy, produces a lot of spin with his backhand, his forehand and serve are big weapons, he is a complete player and one of the most hardworking guys on the Tour,” he said.

In the other set of semifinals, 12-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal will be locking horns with debutant Grand Slam semi-finalist Diego Schwartzman, who earlier defeated two-time defending Roland Garros finalist and his good friend Dominic Thiem in five thrilling sets in the quarterfinals of the French Major.
