Is Playing Fortnite In 2020 ‘Depressing?’

Fortnite, when it was released in 2017, took the gaming community into a state of frenzy. Everyone loved the game’s unique twist of building and collecting materials in a battle royale. Unfortunately, peaks and valleys are a part of every game and Fortnite is no exception. The game is currently at an all-time low in terms of the user base.

Fortnite pro Tyler disappointed with Fortnite in 2020

Tyler Wine, a.k.a. I Am Wildcat on YouTube, is a renowned Fortnite YouTuber with over 7 million subscribers on his channel. Surprisingly, he recently tweeted, “Playing Fortnite in 2020 is depressing.”

This coming from a veteran like Tyler is a setback for all the fans because he is one of the best Fortnite players ever. Also, he is not the first veteran to feel this way. Ninja and Tfue, two of the biggest names in the community, also quit the game and moved on to other alternatives like Valorant and Call of Duty: Warzone.

Streamers and content creators always play a major role in maintaining the relevance and popularity of any game. With two of its biggest names leaving “just like that”, the game has certainly gone down the hill.

Why is everyone moving on from the game?

Fortnite is now facing a severe conflict inside its own community, and that is the major reason for its downfall. In terms of innovation, it is still one of the best games in the market. But the professionals and the casual players are demanding starkly different things from the game, which is leading to a lot of chaos.

Chapter 1 Season 5 was the peak time for Fortnite. And with season 6, Epic Games added a lot of new items, POIs, and weapons in the game. Everyone in the community reacted differently to the new items, and Epic always tried to look for a middle ground. However, fan expectations have changed now because they miss the times when Fortnite was a fun game, and not a high-competition ground. On the other side, professionals who have been playing the game for almost three years expect good competition in the game.

As a result, casuals usually play very vaguely and end up frustrating the pros who do not like being third-partied or griefed in games. The Fortnite community is now divided to such a degree that both pros and casuals cannot enjoy the game fully. Also, games like Valorant and CoD: Warzone are giving Fortnite a run for its money.

With the latest Marvel season,  players like Ninja officially returned to the game for some time, and that gives hope to a lot of fans around the world. However, either the pros or the casuals will have to change their playstyle so that the game survives.
